Blend Height

Image/Blend

Blends together two height maps with additional options to fine-tune the result.

The "OnTop" mode blends the Top layer onto the Bottom layer in areas where the Top layer exceeds the height value of the Bottom layer.
The "Add" mode adds the Top layer onto the Bottom layer.
The "Subtract" mode subtracts the Top layer from the Bottom layer.

Input Parameters

  • Top Image Grayscale
The Top layer to blend onto the Bottom layer.
  • Bottom Image Grayscale
    The Bottom layer.
  • Mask Image Grayscale
An optional mask to mask the Top layer.
  • BlendMode Enum · OnTop, Add, Subtract
The BlendMode determines how the Top layer will be combined with the Bottom layer.
  • TopOffset Float · Range 0.00 → 1.00
Adjusts the height of the Top layer.
  • BottomOffset Float · Range 0.00 → 1.00
Adjusts the height of the Bottom layer.
  • Opacity Float
Controls the opacity of the Top layer. The Opacity also influences the Mask values.
  • TopContrast Float
Controls the contrast of the Top layer.
  • BottomContrast Float
Controls the contrast of the Bottom layer.
  • IntersectionTolerance Float
Determines the range of the computed intersection map. Intersecting areas of the heightmap will produce a mask. This is very useful to improve the visual coherence of blended maps. A great way to use it, is to simply use the Intersection output as Mask for a BaseColor map and blend Black using the "Soft Light" blend mode.
  • ProritizeTop Boolean
Determines which height map to use if both Top and Bottom are at the same height.
  • HeightAdjust Boolean
Determines if the offsets will influence the resulting height map. To keep a physically correct layering of materials even when using the Offset parameters, this should be enabled.

Output Parameters

  • Output Output Image Grayscale
    Blended gray scale image.
  • Mask Output Image Grayscale
  • Intersection Output Image Grayscale
